This organization supports family and maternal mental health during pregnancy and postpartum by providing direct peer support, professional training, and resource referrals.
Founded in 1993, the San Diego Postpartum Health Alliance (PHA) began when a group of local clinicians recognized a critical gap in care for parents. Since then, the PHA has become one of the leading voices in San Diego supporting the mental health needs of pregnant and postpartum individuals and their families.
Through recognizing, understanding, and responding effectively to the mental health needs of these individuals and families, PHA makes San Diego a healthier and supportive environment for all.

Becoming a parent is a major life transition that can bring excitement, uncertainty, and a wide range of emotions.
Taking time to care for your mental well-being is an important part of supporting both yourself and your growing family.
No one is expected to navigate pregnancy, postpartum, or early parenthood alone.
Whether through healthcare professionals, peer support, or trusted community resources, reaching out for help can make challenging moments feel more manageable.
Sharing experiences with others who understand similar challenges can help reduce feelings of isolation.
Support groups, educational resources, and conversations with trained professionals can provide encouragement, practical guidance, and reassurance throughout the parenting journey.
Organizations like the Postpartum Health Alliance, this week's featured community partner, provide peer support through a Warmline, directories of perinatal mental health providers and support groups, and educational resources to help parents better understand and care for their mental health.
By connecting families with trusted information, supportive communities, and professional resources, they help promote mental wellness throughout the journey into parenthood.
