This organization supports those impacted by gun violence through peer healing, case navigation, and holistic wellness programs that promote recovery and stability.
Survivors Rejoice was founded by Sarah Bekele, a survivor of gun violence. She was shot six times - an event that could have taken her life. This experience opened her eyes to the epidemic of gun violence within our communities. During her recovery, Sarah realized it was her purpose to serve and support others on their journey to healing.
Through Survivors Rejoice, those impacted by gun violence are seen more than a statistic or a traumatic event - they are seen as people. This approach creates a supportive environment that fosters healing within individuals and communities.
A supportive, peer-led healing space guided by survivors, for survivors, designed to share stories and build community connection.
Individualized navigation and one-on-one casework to help survivors access essential stabilizing resources after a traumatic event.
Trauma-informed somatic and holistic mind-body practices focused on restoring and regulating the nervous system.
A creative, expressive space utilizing storytelling and art to help individuals process pain and transform emotions.
After a traumatic experience, many people may feel isolated, misunderstood, or disconnected from others. Peer support groups and survivor-centered communities can provide spaces where individuals feel heard, validated, and supported by people with shared experiences.
Trauma can impact emotional, physical, and social well-being. Some individuals may experience challenges with stress, sleep, concentration, or feelings of safety and stability. Because trauma can affect many aspects of life, healing often benefits from a variety of support systems.
There is no single approach to healing. Creative expression, mind-body wellness practices, resource navigation, and community connection can all help individuals process experiences, build resilience, and regain a sense of control.
